Have you ever worried about being alone or 'left out' when buying and moving abroad?
Those fears are unfounded when moving to the Alto Minho region of Portugal where Hidden Sunshine has many villas and sites for sale.
There is a group which was founded in 1996 named the 'Alto Minho Luncheon Group' which surprisingly enough meets monthly in restaurants across the region with the odd sojurn into Spain.

It is first and foremost a social group comprising of over 100 members with various nationalities represented including, English, German, Spanish, Irish and French. Other activities include theatre trips, wine tastings and day trips.

With the Alto Minho region being so large and with members being spread across various towns and cities within it a number of sub-groups have emerged which meet on a more regular basis as well as the monthly meeting.

These smaller groups are involved in choirs, crafts, dancing and tea meetings as well as other activities.  With membership growing constantly and more nationalities being represented yearly it really is a great way to be accepted into the community and a way to help each other adjust to your new lives.

Have you ever considered becoming resident in Portugal?

If the answer to this question is yes, well then read on as we have some important news for you.

In November 2012 the Portuguese government, in a bid to boost property sales in the country introduced new measures to entice buyers.  Anyone who buys property/properties to the value of €500,000 will be granted a Golden Residency Permit.

The Golden Residency Permit is in effect for six years and is the first step to receiving a permanent residency permit.  Under the Golden Residency Permit the holder also has a right to family regrouping. This family regrouping eligibility has been amended and introduced into law especially to coincide with the golden residency permit.

This golden residency permit has attracted upwards of 100 property investors within the first 12 months and has proved to be a major factor in boosting property sales.  Most of these investors have come from China with the remainder being Russian, French and German.

Aside from receiving the golden residency permit living in Portugal offers many benefits, it allows access and travel to Europe and further investment opportunities, a high class education system, low cost of living, 300+ days a year of sunshine, the famous wines of each region and the health benefits associated with this lifestyle.
